Brendon is a current Councillor on Willoughby City Council representing the Ward of Sailors Bay. He was first elected as part of Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney team in 2017. In 2021 Brendon is bringing his experience to Craig’s team and supporting his campaign for Mayor by providing a unique perspective on youth and multiculturalism.
During Brendon’s four years of service to the people of Willoughby he has been working hard to improve community facilities, particularly transport infrastructure and libraries. Brendon’s achievements on council include:
Brendon is an admitted solicitor, and is currently undertaking a Masters in Labour Law and Relations at the University of Sydney. He has previously served on the NSW Law Society Planning and Environmental Law Young Lawyers Committee.
Brendon currently works for a peak hospitality industry body, assisting members with advice in response to the COVID-19 crisis and supporting them in their reopening plans. This experience will be vital for local small businesses in Willoughby and his support of stable and fiscally responsible leadership will be imperative to lead our local economic recovery.
Brendon believes that bringing fresh perspectives into Council is essential for meeting the needs of our local community, such as his involvement in the development of the Vegetation Management Policy to ensure the protection of our trees and canopy coverage in Willoughby, and fair hearings for residents. As the Secretary of Electric Riders Australia, Brendon is also a passionate advocate for personal electric vehicles and micro-mobility initiatives that reduce traffic congestion. These experiences will be important in ensuring that Council remains proactive as leaders and to deliver positive outcomes for our residents.
