Promises kept

I'm proud to have kept all my promises from the 2017 election.

My Record

Transparency

What I promised
Let’s make the process of dealing with Council less opaque and easier to get your voice heard!

What I did
New IT system implemented making much easier to deal with Council now.
New tree policy is simpler & fairer.
Clear communications to all.
Council meetings are now webcast and archived.

My Record

Traffic

Let’s keep holding our traffic planners to account and put some logic in our traffic planning. We can always do better!

What I promised
Positive changes shouldn’t take years to implement. Let’s cut through and get things done.

What I did
Fixed the Beaconsfield lights
Hold the traffic committee and TfNSW accountable to think about the big picture
Traffic & transport strategy
Added parking in Bowen St

My Record

Sustainability

What I promised
Growth and development don’t need to happen without thinking about the long-term impacts. Let’s get smart about our growth and build for our future.

What I did
New strategies focused on sustainable growth:

  • Local centres strategy
  • Industrial lands strategy
  • Traffic & transport strategy
  • CBD strategy

Membership of SNPP as deputy mayor ─ lets me ask those tough questions. Pushed for school use of dive site

My Record

Urgency

What I promised
Positive changes shouldn’t take years to implement. Let’s cut through and get things done.

What I did
Bias toward action. Pushed as much as state laws allow me to push, and then a bit harder (e.g. Beaconsfield lights). Improved, more responsive customer service.

My Record

Fiscal Responsibility

What I promised
Willoughby has a greatfinancial position. Let’s be responsible with our hard-earned rates!

What I did
Balanced budget, even with the COVID hit. No new debt. Rates staying low. Infrastructure levy will lapse as promised. Fiscally sustainable into the future.

My Record

Amalgamations

What I promised
There’s no need to amalgamate and make our government more distant. Let’s keep the ‘Local’ in local government!

What I did
Willoughby stayed independent and proved that local is better.

My Record

Good Planning

What I promised
Let’s say no to rezoning forhigher density development! Keep Willoughby Great! Pushed back on over development.

What I did
New LEP & DCP protect our open space and low density areas. High density only in the CBDs and at transport hubs.
